51) Repentance "saves"

51) Repentance "saves" . - A deep point of theology, often misunderstood even by Evangelicals and Protestants, is that repentance does not "save". Jesus saves. Repentance is the quality indicator of belief. ( salvation )

Ironically this is linked to Calvinist controversies. A Calvinist says "If repentance saves then salvation is by works, thus repentance is forced upon only the elect. Therefore this topic proves Calvinism true," However Repentance does not save, it is a quality indicator of belief.

Baptism to a lesser extent is the same thing, quote

"The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:" 1 Peter 3:21.

This simply means that both baptism and repentance also are "the answer of a good conscience toward God" showing your belief in Christ is quality real belief, not the belief of a user or a demon (as in the Epistle of James) who would accept the free gift message cynically (thus not at all) in an Antinomianist fashion, that is "Free gift of salvation, Thank you kindly, I will accept that, live in sin then go to heaven:. This is why Paul says when defining the Gospel in 1 Cor 15:1-4 :unless you have believed in vain". Repenting does not "make you worthy of eternal life" or contribute to salvation itself, it simply indicates your Faith is real living Faith.

The Orthodox Church in America

           a Puppet of Russia.

Post-reconciliation schism:

Critics of the reunification argue that "the hierarchy in Moscow still has not properly addressed the issue of KGB infiltration of the church hierarchy during the Soviet period."

( so.... you are potentially confessing

your sins to the KGB / FSB or FSS in America,

as Russian rules over the USA church jurisdiction in Orthodoxy!!)
